Travis “Trav” Neal Wilson was born in Florence, Alabama on September 6, 1972. His home church is Florence First United Methodist Church. He became a Christian at age 13. His father is C. T. Wilson, Jr., Director of Special Projects at Northwest Shoals Community College. His mother is Linda Young Wilson, a retired office manager. They now reside in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

    

    Trav attended Bradshaw High School before majoring in Industrial Engineering at Auburn University. He was active at the Auburn Wesley Foundation, serving as the President his final year. In 1999, after completing graduate school at UAB’s Ryals School of Public Heath, Trav answered the call to pastoral ministry. In 2002, he graduated from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and served as pastor of Munford United Methodist Church and Bethlehem United Methodist Church. At Munford he led the congregation in restoring its youth ministry. From 2003 to 2006, Trav served as first an associate pastor and then senior associate pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. During 2006-2007, Trav attended the Beeson Pastor Program at Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. In addition to course work, this program entailed tours of vital, effective churches in London, Seoul, Chicago, Houston, Kansas City and Montgomery. Trav completed his doctoral degree in May 2009.

    From 2007-2009, Trav led the first effort to plant a church in Shelby county between Alabaster, Calera, and Montevallo. From 2009-2013, Trav served as senior pastor at Moody United Methodist Church. During 2014, Trav served on Sand Mountain as the pastor of the Skirum-Fairview Charge outside of Geraldine, Alabama. He was appointed at Madison United Methodist Church in June 2014.

    On July 24, 2004, Trav married the former Miss Rebecca "Becca" Susan Newland of Crawfordville, Florida. Her parents are Randolph “Randy” Newland, a retired high school principal and the late Francis “Francey” Newland. Becca’s home church is Crawfordville United Methodist Church which is nestled in beautiful Wakulla County, Florida. Becca has a bachelor's and graduate degree from Florida State University in Child Development. She is a certified child life specialist who has worked with children with cancer at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, the burn unit of Children's Hospital in Birmingham, as well as children scheduled for surgery at Huntsville Hospital. In May 2013, Becca completed her Masters of Elementary and Early Childhood Education from UAB. She is currently a first grade teacher at Mill Creek Elementary School in Madison, Alabama.

    On October 11, 2007, Trav and Becca welcomed their first child Alexandra “Alex” Wilson. Alex loves to read, karate, got to the beach, watch Disney movies, help her mother around the house and “help daddy fix things.” Alex is currently is second grade at Mill Creek Elementary School.

    On January 4, 2010, Trav and Becca welcomed their second child Lucy Wilson. She loves reading stories, talking, singing, dancing, coloring and embracing the world as her own personal jungle gym. Lucy is currently in kindergarten at Mill Creek Elementary School.

    Trav’s strongest theological influences are Jesus, Paul, N. T. Wright, C. S. Lewis, Nicky Gumbel, Sandy Millar and John Wesley.

    Trav’s favorite pass times are hanging out with his family and friends, woodworking, running, gardening, reading and following Auburn football. War Eagle!
